Dillon Brooks
Dillon Brooks is a player who produces game to game. His biggest issue is his shooting percentages. He doesn’t alway shoot with consistency. He’s a low efficiency scorer who typically has to take a lot of shots to make a lot of shots. Currently his season averages are 17.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists. He’s shorting near 40% from the field. His percentages will likely not increase as he’s right around his career shooting averages.
All things considered, he puts up decent numbers. He’s productive and gives a little bit of everything each game. It might not be done with good efficiency, but it’s still an adequate contribution in other areas of the game. His lack of efficiency is a trade off, but if your team needs scoring and contributions in other categories, he’s worth adding. His percentages will be a deterrent for a lot of teams, but he puts up decent enough numbers to make it work.
Killian Haynes
Killian Haynes has been playing great basketball since the injury of Cade Cunningham. He’s been inserted into the starting lineup and has seemed to have figured it out on offense. He’s always been a decent defensive player. His offense was behind his defensive game. Over his last two games, he’s averaged 16.5 points, 5.5 rebs, and 8.5 assists. They are decent numbers and show he can be an impactful player in multiple categories.
Killian’s biggest issue has been consistency. He’s always struggled to play well for a string of games. He's more than capable of putting together a good game here and there, but doing it on a nightly basis has been a challenge. Over the next few weeks he will have the minutes to play through mistakes and build his confidence. It will give him an opportunity to learn and showcase his game. Killian is a good gamble for a filler spot. There’s no harm in adding him while Cade is out.
Marvin Bagley
Marvin Bagley is a player worth considering. He has also seen an increase in minutes. Isaiah Stewart’s injury has opened up minutes for him. Bagley is now in the starting lineup and playing decent basketball over the last few games. Over the last 3 games he’s averaging 17 points and 9 rebounds.
The most impressive thing is that it's been done with really good efficiency. He’s been shooting 63% from the field. It’s been impressive to see him play as well as he has. It’s going to be difficult to sustain that level of consistency over the course of the next few weeks. He typically shoots a high percentage when given minutes, so it won’t be too large of a drop off. Bagley is worth the gamble while Stewart is out. He provides steady play with good efficiency.
RJ Barret
RJ Barret has had his ups and downs in this early part of the year. He puts up solid numbers, but shoots portly from the field. His current season averages are 18.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.0 assist. His numbers are solid across the board. Although his efficiency has been poor, he’s shooting 40% from the field.
There’s no real expectation for his percentage to drastically improve. He’s currently around his career shooting averages. Similar to Dhillon Brooks, RJ is a player that needs to take a lot of shots to make a lot. He hasn't figured out how to get easier looks on offense. He’s not a dynamic enough player to create space to get his shot off. He plays with a lot of effort so he will bring a high level of competitiveness when he does play. His percentages may be a deterrent if your team values high efficiency.
Dennis Schroder
It hasn’t been long since Dennis Schroder has returned to the lineup. He’s the Laker's only true point guard. There are some limitations to his game because he is not a great outside shooter. It makes it difficult for him to play alongside AD and Lebron because of it.
His averages are currently really low at this point in the season. He’s only played 5 games so far. When he improves his conditioning and works himself back into basketball shape, he will help the Lakers a lot. In his last game he put up 21 points, 3 rebounds and 6 assists. It was a good sign to see him play a good floor game from start to finish.
Dennis is a good gamble for any team. His season can go in any direction. The Lakers will give him a try as their starting point guard. He’s playing for a big contract so you know he will be motivated to go out there and perform. Dennis is a good addition with all things considered.
